Free Medical camp held on Sunday 5th October 2014 for the poor benefited over 200 patients.
Diagnostics were done by 5 doctors from D Y Patil Hospital, 4 doctors from Holy Family Hospital and a senior Dr S Bhatt. Besides G. P’s the following specialists were present Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Orthopedics, and General Surgery.
The dental team from GDC along with Dr Chandini Hitkari held an OPD which checked 40 adults & 75 children. Around 18 to 23 patients requiring extractions & other treatments were attended to by Dr Tanay in the dental van.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to help improve oral hygiene. The Dental team also showed the patients the correct method of brushing teeth.
Dr R Koska and Dr (Mrs) P Koska administered Vitamin D3 injections to all adults over the age of 40 even those who were only accompanying children and did not require any other treatment.
The medical team has identified 15 patients requiring further investigation and 4 children aged 1 ½ , 2, 4 & 6 years old + 1 adult requiring surgery.
March 2013 | Medical Camp at Karjat, Maharashtra
The fourth Medical Camp arranged by the Supreme Council 33° for India and supported by the District Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Bombay and the Distict Grand Conclave of Western India, was held at Keystone Farms, Karjat, near Mumbai, India, on Sunday 17th March 2013. Nearly 200 villagers were checked out, medicines, dispensed and those needing further treatment wee referred to D.Y.Patil Hospital in Navi Mumbai. A child was found to suffer from a neurological disorder, and is now being taken for further investigation at the hospital.
A number of doctors, including GPs and Dentists assisted at the Camp. A large number of young volunteers, though not Masons, have been attending and helping out at all the camps held till now. Number of brethren have contributed towards the expenses of the camp. Sincere thanks to you all. And a “big thank you” to the Pharma Companies which willingly gave us the medicines.
The next camp will be held in October/November 2013 - date of which will be finalized and intimated to all in time. Brethren, make it a point to attend. Charity is one of the pillars of Masonry.

The Supreme Council backed its first major Medical Camp on the 6th November 2011 at the farm of Charles Ferreira, a long time member of the Order, in Karjat. The Doctors led by Dr. Brian Pinto and his sister together with a Pediatric Resident,seven Interns and four Dentists attended the camp and assisted by Dr Koska, his wife our tame Pharmacist, Mohan, a dozen or so Masons and thirty other volunteers young and old, around four hundred and ninety villagers from the surrounding area were seen, diagnosed and medicated.
We must give thanks to all of the donors who made this camp possible especially the Pharmaceutical Association of Bombay, the local Panchayat in Karjat and the Doctors and to all the volunteers who came and gave their time for this special purpose. Without you it could not have happened.
I also thank the doners of cash, which helped in providing drugs which we could not get from other sources and I would remind our members that donations for this or to any future camps can be made to the Supreme Council for India.
The follow up camp will be at the farm in Karjat on the 4th March 2011 and we hope to concentrate on dental care which was identified as the major problem.
